Objectifs
This course offers professionals a concise yet comprehensive overview of US Civil and Criminal Procedure, from the initiation of proceedings through to their resolution.
By comparing the two procedural systems, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the unique characteristics of the U.S. common law tradition. Each stage of the process will be clearly presented and analyzed, with reference to the constitutional principles that underpin and shape procedural law in the United States. This course also aims to improve the participants’ level of English as well as their grasp of the appropriate terminology.
The morning session is dedicated to a structured overview of both civil and criminal procedure. In the afternoon, participants will bring these concepts to life by taking part in a mock trial—either civil or criminal—designed to deepen their familiarity with courtroom roles and dynamics. By the end of the course, attendees will have a strong, practical understanding of U.S. civil and criminal procedure, along with insights into how these processes function in real-world legal contexts.
