Objectifs
Brexit and Consequences course offers professionals and in-depth exploration of current Brexit and recent negotiations between the UK and the EU.
Participants will have the opportunity to select or propose specific issues of interest in advance, allowing the course to be tailored to their professional needs. Each topic will be examined through the lens of relevant legislation and case law, shedding light on the British, European and worldwide issues related to the onset of Brexit and its unfolding consequences. This course also aims to improve the participants’ level of English as well as their grasp of the appropriate terminology.
The course emphasizes active, collaborative learning through research exercises and group discussions, fostering a nuanced understanding of these complex and often controversial issues. By the end of the session, participants will have developed a strong, applied understanding of the topics they explored and will be equipped to continue their engagement with core British and EU political science and legal challenges in relation to Brexit.
Compétences clés
- General understanding of Brexit-related legal issues: Ability to identify the key legal challenges arising from the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.
- Command of essential legal vocabulary in English: Familiarity with core legal terminology concerning Brexit, EU law, and international relations.
- Ability to follow a professional discussion in English on Brexit: Capacity to comprehend and summarize key points in an oral presentation or debate.
- Awareness of UK–EU comparative legal approaches: Ability to recognize basic differences in legal reasoning or regulatory frameworks between the UK and the EU.

Profils
This training course is designed for professionals in the fields of law, international relations, or public policy who wish to deepen their understanding of the legal and political consequences of Brexit within an English-speaking context. It is particularly relevant for those working on cross-border issues, European affairs, or international legal matters—such as trade, regulation, migration, or governance—where a solid grasp of UK–EU relations, post-Brexit developments, and relevant legal frameworks is an asset.
Prérequis
- For professionals who have basic academic and professional background knowledge of EU/British and Brexit related issues in French
- B2 or C1 level of English is required
- An online placement test will be conducted prior to the training to organize participants into two groups, allowing the course to be taught at two levels: B2–C1 and C1–C2, depending on individual proficiency.
Programme
Atouts
This training course is learner-centered and tailored to participants’ language level and legal background. A positioning test is conducted before the session to form groups based on English proficiency, ensuring that the content and pace are adapted to each group’s needs.
The programme combines targeted input on the legal and political consequences of Brexit with interactive learning methods. These include case studies, group research activities, and scenario-based discussions on recent UK–EU negotiations.
This approach enables participants to actively engage with real-world legal frameworks, improve their command of legal English, and enhance their ability to communicate effectively in international legal and policy environments.
